The secret to getting the traffic from these sites is to participate. If you do not participate in the communities on these social networking sites, you are only doing yourself a disservice. Not to mention, wasting your precious time.
Don't just join communities to spam them. They will kick you out so fast, your head will spin.
You need to give valuable contributions to them, in turn you will be rewarded!
My advice would be to join the above social networking sites, make friends, join communities within them, and start driving some targeted traffic to your sites!

I completely agree with your article. Participating the communities will score like anything. I am already interested with Facebook and myspace. Both are good and I am getting good traffic from both.
